"Teatrets Teori og Teknikk" (1965-1974): the complete historical archive is now online
The complete historical archive of Teatrets Teori og Teknikk (TTT), the journal founded by Eugenio Barba and published by Odin Teatret Forlag between 1965 and 1974, is now available online.
Published in Norwegian, Danish, and Swedish, Teatrets Teori og Teknikk played an important role in the circulation of theatrical ideas across Scandinavia during a period of major transformation in twentieth-century theatre. Across twenty-three issues, the journal brought together texts, debates, working methods, and reflections on theatre theory, actor training, dramaturgy, directing, and contemporary performance practices. Its pages introduced readers to a wide range of international theatrical thought and practice, including writings by and about Jerzy Grotowski, Vsevolod Meyerhold, Bertolt Brecht, Antonin Artaud, Zeami, Eugenio Barba, and many others. The new digital archive makes the journal’s complete publication history accessible issue by issue and article by article. Readers can consult the original material directly and explore a collection that documents an important chapter in the development of contemporary theatre practice and research. The archive has been created as part of the digital portal of the Journal of Theatre Anthropology (JTA), the annual journal founded by Eugenio Barba in 2021. Bringing TTT into the JTA digital environment creates a direct connection between two editorial projects separated by more than half a century, while preserving the historical identity of the earlier journal. The digital edition is intended as a resource for researchers, practitioners, students, teachers, and readers interested in twentieth-century theatre, theatre anthropology, and the history of Odin Teatret.
