This article was first published in Italian in “Teatro e Storia”, n. 45/2025, pp. 409-21 as part of a dossier about Nicola Savarese, a scholar whose research was both practical and theoretical. His main publications are listed here, together with his fields of interest that ranged from Asian theatre to ancient Greek and Roman theatre. Nicola was part of ISTA since the first session in Bonn in 1980 and the collaboration with Eugenio Barba has produced two fundamental books for theatre anthropology: The Secret Art of the Performer and The Five Continents of Theatre.
